I am currently in the auditorium with Hanin and the others. Khairiyyah is still in level 2, observing the proceedings of the Khat (arabic calligraphy) competition. Okay, scratch that. She's next to me now ;) Hanin is complaining that she wants to go 'home' and rest. Well, no one's stopping her.
I made her sign our VOX contract before sending her the invite ;)
Well, I have to go and edit the video for tonight's multimedia presentation. Until later, then~
.. And below is the video I captured out of boredom...
MPKI: The public speaking competition was quite a fluke, but I have to admit that some of them were quite good (or at least know and understand what they were talking about). It's amusing how my classmate Anuar kept repeating the word 'coincidence' ('kebetulan' in Malay). He was like - "Is it a coincidence that we bla bla bla coincidentally, and we bla bla bla like a coincidence too?" and so on. Still, i salute him for his speech. He managed to stand strong in front of the audience (or the lack of them in the Main Hall) although his speech was prepared only a few hours prior to his actual performance.
There was this Cohort 5 girl who was really good in delivering her speech. I could tell that she was {is} a debater or a public speaker in her old school. My classmate Ayu also did a good job. She's cute and small, but she has confidence.
Later at night, during the Nasyid competition, I was surprised to find out that instead of just three groups, five groups would be performing. Two of the groups registered at the very last minute. They seem to be following the norm of IPBA very strictly: making last-minute decisions. I was really happy to see the hall filled with students. The last two events did not receive as much recognition from the students and lecturers alike. As for the lecturers, I understand that they're very busy. As for the students, I just can't say anything. Some spent their evening sleeping and some went out to Mid Valley, KLCC, Amcorp or the likes of those mentioned. Compared to last year, this year's MPKI is a big failure.
Reasons why I think this event fails:
{=} Lack of promotion
{=} Too early; the new students had only just registered last week. They have not yet been exposed to our IPBArian culture. Last year's event was held two months after our registration.
{=} Too many events going on at the same time
*points to the picture above* Look! So many empty seats!
LDS: Haha... I got B for Language Description (refer to previous entry, please!). Well, it's worse than I've been expecting but I guess I'll just have to make do with it. I need to revise more, especially when it comes to defining / explaining the functions.
WEBSITES: At long last (actually, it's just a month), I've finally settled the problems with my hosting provider (Surpass Hosting a.k.a SH). Ipbarian.Net is now online on another server @ Big Blue Host (BBH). I've never had any experience with the company considering the fact that I have always trusted Surpass Hosting, but BBH seems to be quite promising. Besides, the hosting package is satisfactory. Even though I wanted to buy a reseller hosting package, I changed my mind after looking at the details. For just USD7.95 (roughly RM31.00) per month, I get:
{=} 5GB of webspace
{=} 150GB of bandwidth
{=} CPanel control panel (my favourite!)
{=} Fantastico!
{=} (Shared) SSL
{=} Unlimited MySQL databases
{=} Unlimited subdomains
{=} Unlimited addon domains
{=} 5 Domain parkings
{=} Unlimited e-mail accounts
{=} Domain pointers
And many more! What makes you think I could have resisted the temptation?
So now, IPBA Learning Centre website, IPBArian Newsletter, IPBArian Portal, IPBArian Blog and Irsyad - IPBA Online Islamic Notes are up. I wish I could get some money from the Learning Centre. This thing isn't free; there's just no way we could ever host websites with dynamic and interactive contents on our good 'ol IPBA server. I just don't trust the capability of the server since it seems to live up to its famous nickname: The Computer Viruses Breeding Centre. The websites, however, are still in dire need of polishing and reconstruction. Still, have a look at www.ipbarian.net
WRITING: I have been writing a little bit too much since the past two months. I've finished more than 10 fictions within the past month, and I am currently in the middle of finishing a few more. My 'Awaiting Reprobation' and 'In the Midst of Solitude and Winter Breeze' need serious attention. Both fictions are already more that 15,000 words long. in addition, I really need to write new songs and poems. My poetic side must be crying in agony of abandonment now...
I think that's all for tonight's reflection. It's already 1.50am. Zzzzz....
Wow, Vox is so powerful. I'm so glad to have been invited to open an account, and I am really glad to have my own name as the subdomain name :) It's just so easy to post blog entries too XD Maybe I should invite friends over.
I'm currently waiting for the lecturer to come in for my LDS class (sometimes I wonder why these people can't just call it Grammar. Language Description is all about grammar, anyway~) I forgot to bring newpaper cuttings and forgot to analyse the denotations and connotations in the 'Cockroach' poem ~_~ That's just like me. Somehow, I'm currently hoping that she won't ask for it because we're supposed to discuss our last LDS assessment paper today. We've been told that our achievements weren't that great compared to the previous one. While I'm scared to know my grades, I'm looking forward to see what mistakes I might have made.
There are two MKI events for today, from 2.30pm to 11.00pm tonight. Dang... I just hope I'll have enough energy to go through with it. I wonder why am I involved with the organising committee in the first place...
